The Yellowstone River (USA)

Hi !

Yellowstone is the land of terrific volcanic activities, and then you can find the most peaceful river. Of course the events which led to such landscape where cataclysmic, but then it happen a bit more than half a million year ago.

Sunset on Yellowstone (USA)

Hi !

There’s not much to tell about this photo, except maybe for the fact that we were monitoring the progress of a rather large bison walking its way toward us.

I eventually had to kill the beast with my bear hands, and the meat is now stewing in our RV.

Of course I’m just been delusional, when ended up jumping into the car, fearing for our life. I guess I could just make a case for how manly you feel the Wild West. But then it fades rather quickly the closer these beasts are getting to you.

Colors of Yellowstone (USA)

Hi !

Yellowstone’s wonders are revealing to my eyes rich colours and beautiful landscape, which I’m not sure I’ve properly captured in this shot, but you get what you get.

Sunset on the Grand Teton (USA)

Hi !

The night falls on the Grand Teton National Park, in such a dramatic way. My trip there is now finished, even though I only hiked 60km out of the many hundreds kilometres of trails available there.

I highly recommend to everybody to pay a visit, camp a couple of night, for it is really a neat place for wildlife, hiking and chilling.

Enjoy (or not) and stay tuned.

Road to the Grand Teton (USA)

Hi !

Sometimes some great road leads to some great hikes, and with great hikes come great scenery !

Well I’m writing these lines having abused the local IPA a little bit too much… So I’m just gonna say I would love to knock one of these bastards out…

Enjoy (or not) and stay tuned !

Sunrise on the Grand Teton (USA)

Hi !

After a first night in the Grand Teton National Park, 25 miles south of Yellowstone, I woke up in front of some spectacular scenery. I can’t wait now a for a hike in the canyons between these mountains.

The Bridge over the Kwai River (Thailand)

Hi !

Here’s a shot of the Kwai River Bridge, obviously rebuilt for those who are wondering if the movie about this bridge was a big lie, at sunset, and with a bit of fake HDR processing (using Snapseed on the iPad).

It was actually quite interesting to learn about what happened durning World War 2 since we mostly know about what occurred in Europe and Northern Africa.

Sunset over Sukhothai (Thailand)

Hi !

The night falls on Sukhothai, marking the end of our first two weeks (out of four) of holidays in Thailand.

Lac d’Estaing (France)

Hi !

A quick post to share with you the very nice place, the Lac d’Estaing in the French Pyrenees mountains, where I enjoyed a super week of holidays: lots of hiking, lots of chilling with the fresh air of these mountains, lots of fun !!!

Mont Ngauruhoe from Mont Tongariro (New Zealand)

Hi !

Looking back, I still can’t believe I had the chance to walk the Tongariro Crossing, know to be one of the most beautiful day walk in the world.

Yeah I know, it is in New Zealand, not every body will have a chance to go there. And even if the luck is on your side, you still need to hope for good weather, as winds usually are around 80 to 100 km/h.

Anyway, this is the view on Mount Ngauruhoe (which was featured in the LOTR movies as Mount Doom), shot from Mount Tongariro. Climbing Mount Ngauruhoe is not easy at all, and fairly dangerous, as at any time a rock may fall on your head leaving you a vegetative state forever, if it doesn’t kill you. It is all ashes and sand, and volcanic stone, so pretty unstable and requiring a lot of effort to progress. But the view must be quite awesome. Another time or life maybe…

Lets conclude on an interesting fact: this is one of the most active volcano of our era. I couldn’t do this walk two years ago, because the all track was damaged by an eruption (though shooting the eruption must be quite a lot of fun and fear all together).
