Lac d’Estaing (France)

Hi !

A quick post to share with you the very nice place, the Lac d’Estaing in the French Pyrenees mountains, where I enjoyed a super week of holidays: lots of hiking, lots of chilling with the fresh air of these mountains, lots of fun !!!

Shropshire Union Canal Main Line (England)

Hi !

Long time no see ??!!

Just a capture from a trip in Great Britain, during which I enjoyed two B&B nights and a trip on a narrow boat.

The weather wasn’t really part of the deal, except for a short hour on the last day when we woke up.

Enjoy (or not) and stay tunes.

Playful Emma

Hi !

Here’s my very loved niece, Emma, posing in her playful way in front of my dearly loved Fuji 56mm F/1.2 lens.

I think she knows exactly what she was doing, using the fourniture in the room, searching for the perfect light, instead of just smiling like any random kid would have done 🙂

Mont Ngauruhoe from Mont Tongariro (New Zealand)

Hi !

Looking back, I still can’t believe I had the chance to walk the Tongariro Crossing, know to be one of the most beautiful day walk in the world.

Yeah I know, it is in New Zealand, not every body will have a chance to go there. And even if the luck is on your side, you still need to hope for good weather, as winds usually are around 80 to 100 km/h.

Anyway, this is the view on Mount Ngauruhoe (which was featured in the LOTR movies as Mount Doom), shot from Mount Tongariro. Climbing Mount Ngauruhoe is not easy at all, and fairly dangerous, as at any time a rock may fall on your head leaving you a vegetative state forever, if it doesn’t kill you. It is all ashes and sand, and volcanic stone, so pretty unstable and requiring a lot of effort to progress. But the view must be quite awesome. Another time or life maybe…

Lets conclude on an interesting fact: this is one of the most active volcano of our era. I couldn’t do this walk two years ago, because the all track was damaged by an eruption (though shooting the eruption must be quite a lot of fun and fear all together).

St Aldhelm’s Head (England)

Hi !

This is the last photo from this nice trip on the Jurassic Coast, in the Dorset.

For those of you who wish to enjoy this view, I really recommend leaving from Corfe Castle, walk via the Purbeck Way (which, to be fair, we didn’t really manage to follow, but eventually you’ll reach the coast anyway). Then from there, walk to Swanage. The view, the light and the green grass won’t disappoint you.

A bench on St Aldhelm’s Head (England)

Hi !

Here’s a shot I quite like, of a lonely bench, waiting for a couple to sit in and enjoy the view on the Jurassic Coast.

I would say most of the year, about 99% of it actually, it must be rainy, windy and cold, like you can imagine the weather is in the UK, but on that day it looked so perfect.

Of course it looked quite moody, seen such a lonely bench not fulfilling his destiny…

Durdle Door (England)

Hi !

Why always fly thousands of miles away when there’s something new to discover just by visiting the surrounding countries ?

Here’s a shot I took during a fantastic weekend on the Jurassic Coast, in the Dorset (England). The weather was just brilliant, with temperatures around the ones you would get in the south of France, at the same moment of the year, but some 1500 km south.

To be fair this is quite a poor long exposure, as I wasn’t properly equipped with a shutter release. So note for the future: the electronic shutter release with a timer for bulb mode is mandatory !!!

Sunset in the Gers (France)

Hi !

Impossible not to capture this very dramatic sunset over the Gers, in France, probably one of the most unpopulated area in France.

It was one of this very warm day, with a blue almost of the way through, except for the last hour. The red sun just had to light up the clouds on fire.

Not a lot of effort required to pop the colours, only a simulation of the ND grad filter.

Fast delivery in Guangzhu (China)

Hi !

I haven’t spent much time in China, only 3 business trips for a total of 6 weeks, where 90% of it was spent in meeting room and hotel/restaurant. But I got a chance to walk around in Guangzhou, 3rd biggest city of China. And I got somehow amazed by the parcel delivery system (or lake of).

Above is my lucky capture. The camera wasn’t set properly, basically expecting a lot of light, and we were in a dark street during a dark day. This guy passed by, without any thinking I shot him, and, by relfex, I followed him and got this motion blur.

Enjoy (or not) and stay tuned !
